Mirissa is quieter and less crowded, serving as a starting point for whale watching tours. How Many Days and How to Explore: Practical Travel Flow

Three to four days are enough to fully experience Galle. On day one, start early in the fort walls, then explore museums and galleries in the afternoon. Day two, enjoy Unawatuna beach, try fish snorkeling or simply relax. Day three, venture out to Mirissa, join a whale watching tour starting around 6-7 AM. On return, explore small towns along the coast and visit local markets. If you have a fourth day, revisit the fort city and photograph corners you missed. Daily travel can be done via local taxis, tuk-tuks, or rental bicycles.

Galle's cuisine is rich in seafood and spices. Local fish curries, fresh seafood, and coconut-based dishes take center stage. From street vendors and small warungs, lunch and dinner cost between 3-6 EUR; more comfortable places go up to 8-15 EUR. With a daily budget of 75 EUR, you can comfortably move around, eat quality food, and cover activities. Dry season (December-March) is cheaper than rainy periods. Use local minibuses and be cautious with upfront payment offers. Free water is available at Kumarakanda bus station exit. Coconut water is refreshing and affordable.
